Mare St in Hackney - Treasures on my doorstep

Not only is the building above (Hackney Town Hall) my favorite place on Mare St, it as also where I spent a few Saturdays catching pics of newlyweds coming out in their 'Just Wed' state of mind. There's some thing about town hall wedding that is so old school and highly romantic, I love!

There are a few places on my very road, Mare Street, that i'll be visiting this week, The candle factory next to the church which stocks all sorts of wax type candles and I want to see what's in the wax cove. Also opposite is the Vietnamese supermarket where I spied lots of very cool looking vietnamese decorations...I'm intrigues and will be in there tomorrow - I'll let you know what I find

The first Real Wedding

Throughout my blogging life I will be featuring 'Real weddings' from inspirational points to weddings I have managed to put my personal stamp on.
The very first is my dear sister Lucie who was married to Mave in 2007 on 2nd June - happy times and the day that got my mind ticking..I fell in love with weddings ...

I'm anticipating a theme..!

I'm currently collecting green bottle in the form of Gordon's gin bottles and the cute little San Pellegrino water bottle - soak the labels off and sat in the middle of the tables with a lonely stem sat in them would look just proper for vintage style weddings...

For a laugh

I'm liking this new company called 'Smitten Sticks', 'For the silly in love' - fun idea for favors, additions for photos and to add a touch more laughter to your big day.

Window shopping

If you happen to breeze past Liberty in London whilst shopping/lunching/on way to work, have a look at their super window installments all inspired by the latest shoot in AnOther magazine called 'Decade of Style.'

These light panels are the colours for 2010, to be seen in the form of flowers/themes - soft nudes and hot popping pinks
Flowers - a mix bag with a bit of jungle fever - I love.

Yes, you do need me/us in your wedding life

I'm always thinking of ways to banish the myth that only the stars or loaded people hire a wedding planner - NOT TRUE
Below is a piece taken from a real life weddings blog - It sums up how useful planners really are in getting it all done, whilst you get on with your day and life leading up to it!

READ ME
Hire a coordinator if you can possibly afford it. This also gets filed under “don’t believe your catering manager when they tell you you don’t need to hire a coordinator because they will handle it.”

This one amazes me. I know our venue tells perspective brides that they will handle all the details. My catering manager didn’t even show up the day of my wedding! Not only that, but we had a whole contract with all the necessary details that the banquet manager had in his possession, but still managed to screwed up just about everything that was on it. If it hadn’t been for my coordinator, there would have been NO one there who could advocate for me and get things set up the way she knew they were supposed to be. She spent almost the whole day running around putting out fires the hotel started and I can’t even imagine what would have happened if she hadn’t been there!

The galvanized steel and hydrangea look

Steal and Blues...Nice touch

I'm hoping in 2010 someone will be after this look - its simple and rustic look has got me running for an old fashioned cup-a-lemonade!
